What are Adjectives ?

Adjectives describe nouns (people, places, or things). They modify a noun by telling us how something

looks, feels, or is.

for example: tall, short, funny, kind, big, small, clean, dirty etc

Where do we place adjectives in a sentence ?

Adjectives come before the noun or after “be” verbs.

  • She is happy.

  • He is a funny teacher.

  • It is a small town.

What are Adverbs ?

Just like adjectives describe a noun, adverbs describe a verb. They tell us how someone does something.

Always remember that many adverbs end in -ly ( quickly, slowly, well, loudly, quietly ).

let's have a few examples in sentences:

  • She sings beautifully.

  • He runs fast.

  • They speak quietly.

Remember:

Use adjectives to tell us what something is like.

Use adverbs to tell us how someone does something.

Both help us make our sentences more interesting and clear!

Check the pictures above for clarification.
