This Everyday Habit Might Be Shrinking Your Brain

Have you been sitting for too long today? You might want to stand up; your brain could be at risk. Recent studies have shown that a sedentary lifestyle, where people sit for hours every day, may lead to a smaller brain.

Scientists observed adults who sat for long periods and found a surprising connection. The more hours they sat, the more their brain volume decreased. This could increase the risk of memory loss and other brain problems as we age. Interestingly, even people who exercised daily still had this problem if they sat for most of the day.

One key finding was that sitting too much can shrink the part of the brain responsible for memory. While more research is needed, this highlights the importance of moving regularly throughout the day.

So, what can you do? Take standing breaks every hour. Walk while talking on the phone. Stretch at your desk. These small changes may help keep your brain healthy and strong.

Remember, your chair might be comfortable; but your brain prefers motion.
