Exercise 1

Vocabulary

Direction: Listen and repeat after your tutor.

Souvenir

Meaning:

Something you buy or keep to remember a place you visited.

    I bought a beautiful souvenir from Italy to remind me of my trip.

Relaxing

Meaning:

Making you feel calm and free from stress.

    Lying on the beach is a very relaxing activity during holidays.

Set off

UK: /set ɒf/ US: /set ɔːf/

Meaning:

To begin a journey.

    We set off early in the morning to catch our flight.

Check in

UK: /tʃek ɪn/ US: /tʃek ɪn/

Meaning:

To register at a hotel or airport.

    Don’t forget to check in at the hotel when you arrive.
